Dear Student,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft Wizardry. Your life as a wizard begins the moment you become a member of “Hogwarts: The Next Chapter”(HNC).
Sincerely, Headmaster Nathaniel Dartshaw
Part A – Plot and Storyline
One thing that sets our RPG apart from many other forum-based RPG’s is that we currently do not have a designated plot. We have a timeline and that is about it. There may be a plot in the future, but that is still in the works. I will tell you though that our RPG is set 50 years from where Deathly Hallows left off. This sets us in the year 2047.
Since we do not have a specific plot at the moment, I will tell you what we do have in the way of character development. HNC is what I call a “create-your-own-legacy” RPG. In other words, it means that you are responsible for what happens to your character and that you get to decide, ultimately good or bad, what happens to him or her. If a plot is developed (I’m sure there will be one eventually), there will be a thread posted about it.
Part B – Registration
If you want to become a member of our growing RPG community, then you have to register. It is very easy. All you have to click on the “Register” button at the top of the page. It is right between the “Help” button and the “Login” button. After you click button, just fill in the information, agree to the Proboards Terms of Service and click “Create Account”.
Once you have registered and become a member of our Hogwarts community. You have to activate your account. Basically, this step is to verify that you and you alone created your account and not somebody else. This is very easy and only takes up a moment of your time. Just follow the instructions given in the activation e-mail that is sent to the e-mail account that you registered with. Once that is done come back to our site and get started on your Hogwarts legacy!
Part C – The Sorting Hat
The Sorting Hat is very important at Hogwarts. As in the Hogwarts in the books, the house your character is sorted into is like your family while you attend Hogwarts. More information can be found on the Sorting Hat by visiting here: http://newhogwarts21.proboards.com/index....ad=15&page=1#15
In case you are not familiar with what the Sorting Hat does, the Sorting Hat takes a peek inside your head and finds your strengths and weaknesses. It uses those to determine which house you belong in. If you’re found to be more courageous and brave, then you will most likely be put in Gryffindor. Or, perhaps it will find you to be intelligent and creative. In that case, you will most likely be placed in the House of Ravenclaw. There are four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin!
Part D – Character Profile
One of the most important things to remember in role playing is that you are not supposed to act like yourself. You are supposed to create a whole new character and be like your character.
Here at Hogwarts, each member is asked to create a character profile. It is very easy and also recommended. If you are wanting to be a professor at Hogwarts, then it is a requirement. There is a form that is already written out and all you have to do is fill in the blanks.
Another way that this RPG is different from many others is that we do not require your character to be approved. However, we do reserve the right to discipline those that find putting silly things in your character profile to be funny. For example, if someone puts “John Jacob Jingle Heimer Schmidt” as their character’s name, I doubt anyone will find that funny except for the poster.
For more information on character profiles, go to this link: http://newhogwarts21.proboards.com/index....splay&thread=13
Part E – Wands What is Hogwarts centered on? The answer to that is magic and wizardry. The next question is what does every great wizard or witch need? That answer is a wand. Yes, if you plan on being an active part of the wizard community which we have set up, then you will need a wand. You will need it if you are going to take wizard classes or if you’re going to role play some great adventure with your three best friends.
Now you’re asking, how do I get a wand. Well, there is only one place to go if you’re in need of a wand: Ollivander’s, of course! The cost of a wand is 12 galleons. By clicking the link below, you can access the wand shop. You will need to buy your wand from Ollivander’s.
http://newhogwarts21.proboards.com/index....isplay&thread=9.
Each person that buys a wand must register their wand with the Ministry of Magic. This helps the administrators stay organized on who has a wand and who doesn’t. The Ministry of Magic is located in the “Beyond Hogwarts Castle” section of the forums.
Part F – General Rules of Roleplaying HNC has 10 basic rules of our site. We call them “The HNC 10 Commandments”. These are standard rules that should be common sense. Each rule has its own set of consequences. For the first offense, it is the stated punishment. On the second offense, it is double the stated punishment. On the third offense, you receive permanent banishment from Hogwarts. It’s a “three strikes and you’re out” policy!
1. Keep it clean! No cursing or put downs of any kind. This offense will result three days in Azkaban.
2. Spamming is a big HNC no-no. Your account will be disabled for three days is found doing this.
3. Racism & discrimination will not be tolerated AT ALL. Three days if caught.
4. Being an HP-based website, keep all content, at the highest, a G level. Anything higher will result in two days in Azkaban.
5. Illegal content of any form is not allowed, including negative symbols. This will result in 7 days in Azkaban.
6. When RPing in a teacher's classroom or House, they reserve the right to take any necessary measures to enforce the rules. I (the Headmaster) will be notified of any wrongdoings in a teacher's classroom.
7. The Headmaster is NEVER to be argued with while enforcing any of these rules. If you have a problem, take it up with the Headmaster. Any rants on the forum will result in a two-day suspension period.
8. Posting IN ALL CAPS is considered spamming on HNC. Posts in all caps will be deleted upon discovery and the author of the post will be suspended for three days.
9. Advertising for other Harry Potter sites is allowed. See the board on Affiliations for more information on advertising and link exchanges.
10. Posting X-Rated content is forbidden and will result in ACCOUNT DELETION from Hogwarts Hardcore, no matter who you are! This includes, but not limited to, role-plays, links, photos, or cartoons.
CLOSING STATEMENT Violation of any of the rules can result in materials being deleted, you may be sent to Azkaban, or account suspended PERMANENTLY. In case of hacking, we reserve the right to report hackers to their ISP and/or local law enforcement agency. We reserve the right to execute any of these punishments WITHOUT NOTICE. These rules can be added to or changed if necessary. Members will always be notified about a change in rules and/or consequences to the rules. We reserve the right to do this, too! You are required to follow these rules stated above. Questions? Contact the Headmaster.
CONSEQUENCES 1st Offense - Stated Punishment 2nd Offense - Double Stated Punishment 3rd Offense - EXPULSION!
Part G – Agreement to the HNC 10 Commandments As an active member of our site, you agree to abide by each rule and accept any consequences that may come about through breaking the rules.
Part H – Useful Links! The staff at HNC has composed a list of useful links and websites that are great helpers whether you’re a student or a professor.
1. HP-Lexicon: http://www.hp-lexicon.org This site contains invaluable information that you may have missed as you read the books. This site is highly recommended for professors who are having trouble planning lessons!
2. MuggleNet: http://www.mugglenet.com MuggleNet is another famous Harry Potter site that is known for its information. It has information on the happenings of the world of Harry Potter. There are resources for creating and graphics, and more!
3. Elouai: http://www.elouai.com Elouai is a site that is amazing at creating Harry Potter avatars. There are at least tens of thousands of different combinations. You can mix and match different parts of characters or create an entire character from scratch. Simply download and use as your avatar.
4. Harry Potter-ish Name Generator: http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~pound/dickensian.sample If you’re having difficulty coming up with a name for your character, then here is another invaluable source! This site is a random name generator that is programmed to “spit out” random names in the style of the Harry Potter books. This page generates eight pages (if printed out) worth of names at a time, and they are different each time you visit the page. This is truly a valuable source!
Part I – Conclusion We hope that this helps introduce you to our version of the “Potter-verse” here at HNC. If you are going to (or already have) register, then we hope that this information proves valuable as you begin your journey! HNC is a growing RPG community and we would enjoy having you as a part of the Hogwarts experience. Thank you.
